Claire’s Bio

CTA was founded originally by Claire Yarrington as California Theatre Arts in Walnut Creek in 1984. In 2001, the company expanded to include CTA Crossroads Theatre, with the vision of providing both a high-quality performing arts school and regional professional theatre.

Now in Sanpete County, Utah (and surrounding areas) CTA offers an exciting opportunity for all ages to gain a high-level performing arts education. What sets CTA apart? A multi-disciplinary performing arts academy and training in every aspect of performance to help students develop “triple threat” skills. Offerings include classes in dance, vocal training, musical theatre, and acting.

CLAIRE’S STORY

Firstly, Claire began teaching at age 19 for BYU and has enjoyed a career spanning four decades. She has been involved in performing, educating, directing, and artistically guiding and mentoring in the performing arts. Claire holds certifications from the Royal Academy of Dance, Music Teachers Association, Seth Riggs’ Speech Level Singing – Level 5, & Virtual Coaching. She also holds a BA degree from BYU, & the position of Artistic Director for CTA Crossroads theatre for eight years.

Claire chooses to place importance on helping clients become their best through focused, intentional, and in-depth vocal and artist development. Through this framework, many of Claire’s former students have gone on to professional careers in the arts. Experience as an instructor, performer and director have given her the vision, skill and determination to guide students in a pathway of integrity with their values. She has enjoyed teaching with Broadway professionals on both coasts. Importantly, Claire has guided students with a commitment to excellence regardless of amateur or professional status.

VOCAL REHAB

“If your voice has ever cracked or made some unpredictable sound that embarrasses you, just know we’ve all been there”. In fact, Claire’s passion to become a Voice Coach was born because her sisters tormented her singing as a child. Furthermore, after finding the way to make her voice more appealing, the next hurdle was how to keep the voice healthy, since it was in use daily.

20 yrs ago she developed “pre-nodules” – the result of overuse where extreme swelling occurs at locations on the vocal cords. You may have heard this swelling in someone whose voice sounds hoarse or cracks on certain words or pitches. The Dr’s advice was to stop vocalizing for several weeks – while that advice was impractical for a voice teacher, it led Claire to learn how to heal more quickly and regain her voice – a skill she uses to help others rehabilitate their voice.

This knowledge is transformative for anyone who uses their voice in any career (singing OR speaking) since it’s not just something you use—it’s a valuable tool you can train, heal, and master. Claire helps singers and speakers stop “winging it” and start treating their voice like an elite instrument.

Importantly, this is a unique program for those with vocal issues. Moreover, this program is for those who want more than a couple of warm-ups and a YouTube playlist.

Sessions employ vocal rehab, full-spectrum speaking or singing techniques, artist development, and serious results.  And here’s why: You can’t build influence, credibility or confidence on vocal dysfunction or damage. You can’t become a standout if your technique is shaky, your voice tires out, or you’re hiding behind fears or limitations.

FROM CLAIRE

Claire says: “I have been learning and teaching solid vocal technique for more than 25 years. Today, I continue to study under the tutelage of the Profty Vocal Master Greg Enriquez. He has studied the functions of the voice meticulously and conducts Master Vocal Workshops internationally. Those fortunate enough to benefit from this vast body of knowledge experience improvement in Vocal Tone, Strength, Range, Agility, Ease, Confidence and Beauty; as it allows for Free Voice, and supports ANY genre of music.”
